Maintaining Certification in Clinical Anaplastology
Continuing Education
Continuing Education Requirements
Board Certified Anaplastologists will need to renew their certification every three years and they will need to accrue sufficient continuing education credits during this period to support their certification renewal.
November 1 is now the deadline for all CCA renewal applications. If you have an existing certification that ends after November 1 (e.g., 11/20/19) thus making your deadline November 1 of the following year (for the same example, 11/1/2020), there will be a gap for which you can receive a temporary certification to validate your credentialed status.
All present Certified Clinical Anaplastologists will receive an email stating the date when their certification is up for renewal. Contact us if you are uncertain of your renewal date
Board Certified Clinical Anaplastologists will need to provide evidence of the continuing education credits they obtained to maintain their certification.
To assist members to track their your continuing education credits annually, the BCCA developed the following form: https://form.jotform.com/70184695147160
Please note that verification of the credits is required and you may upload files within the link above. Utilizing this link on an annual basis is optional; it is simply a tool to help you easily report your continuing educational activities.
Even though we have changed the recertification cycle to every three years instead of every five years, the same average number of 12 total CEUs annually is required; instead of 60 CEUs over the course of 5 years, we are now requesting 36 CEUs over the course of 3 years.
Please contact us to ask when your certification is due for renewal or please come to see us at our booth at the International Anaplastology Association conference.
Developing a Qualifying Course for Re-Certification in Clinical Anaplastology
How to obtain CEUs for Re-Certification
The BCCA has “pre-approved providers” of Continuing Education Units such as the IAA and the AAMP.
The BCCA welcomes individual Certified Clinical Anaplastologists who develop and provide educational opportunities for Certified Clinical Anaplastologists to continue to update their knowledge and skills and earn continuing education credits.
However if the provider is not on the BCCA pre-approved list, the course provider must apply to the BCCA before promoting that they are offering CEUs recognized by the BCCA that count towards re-certification in Clinical Anaplastology
The following steps must be in place before an individual lay person, a CCA or an institution can claim the material or instruction they provide qualifies as a CEU (Continuing Education Unit) for re-certification.
- A fee of $100 payable to the BCCA
- A full course agenda outlining the number of hours being spent in the classroom versus time taken for opening remarks, breaks, meals, etc.
- A summary of what an attendee will learn from each module of the proposed program being offered
The provider must submit the above information a minimum of 8 weeks prior to the commencement of the course in order to provide enough time for the BCCA to do an evaluation.
Once the BCCA has reviewed the continuing education opportunity and has approved it, the BCCA will assign the number of CEUs, the event can offer to a CCA. The provider can include that information on their promotional materials.
The provider may not promote their event as offering CEU credits towards re-certification in Clinical Anaplastology unless they has received permission to do so in writing from the BCCA.
Late Filing of Re-certification Documents
Penalties For Filing Late For Re-Certification or Incomplete Documentation (as of Nov. 1, 2021)
Recertification applications are considered incomplete if any of the required information is missing and/or illegible, or the appropriate fee is not included.
Candidates will be notified via email that the recertification application is incomplete and what must be done to complete the application. These notices will include a deadline for response.
If the certificant does not respond in a timely manner, notification will be sent to inform the certificant that the recertification application is invalid and will not be processed. The candidate will be notified of the consequences for failing to re-certify.
Recertification applications must be complete before they are processed and approved.
November 1 is now the deadline for all CCA renewal applications. In order to bring all members in alignment with this date, the following rules will be in place. - Certification must be renewed every three years thus the reporting cycle is now every three years.
- Verifying documentation must be submitted with the application on or before the Nov. 1 deadline.
- The BCCA annual fee must be paid/current.

- The BCCA reserves the right to consider the status of a CCA if their re-certification application is later than 30 days. Decisions will be made on a case by case basis.
